academic and business world each has very different contrary idealisms, two sides that are not supposed to walk on the same path together. however, money still makes the world (and education) go around and with such minimum support from the government (give us that 20% budget you bloody Volvo riders!!) plus the so called social obligation to provide afordable higher education, what can an institution do other than making the most out of opportunities ahead ?

SD: ngejodohin orang seenak jidat SMP: saling nyebut nama bokap ato nama panggilan yang dihibahkan (ayam, bogel, dll) SMA: er.. banyak kayaknya, tp berhubung gue cuma pake seragam putih-abu 4 bulan.. ga terlalu familiar Kuliah (akhir2): ayo.. siapa kawin duluan..?? Ibu-ibu: Jeng, anaknya jodohin aja ama anak saya.. asik, kan kita bisa besanan... *sigh...* kenapa juga orang2 begitu terobsesinya sama kawin2an..??

premature turning point

i've been through some major turning points in the 2-decade course of my life, most usually involved the transition of education institution i was thriving in. been making decisions in a short term after the exams burden were released and before the thoughts of impending future set in (i.e. graduation periods).

my next graduation period won't be coming until months from now and yet i've been stuck inside the "turning-point" syndrome for weeks now. i guess, the older we are, there are much more things to consider and to prepare and thus the earlier panic attack.

shop till drop ?

ITCs, hypermarkets, malls, plazas, town squares, factory outlets, junctions, mini markets, city centers and even a shopping town are springing up all around Jabodetabek. while the new ones are starting to encounter difficulties in renting the shop spaces, no less robust is the construction of new shopping centers. The developments is said to be killing the weaker and less attractive traditional markets. First question: I reckon in Jakarta alone, dwell more than 10 millions people, but do they really shop that much? Second: Say, the shopping rate is enough to support every single... (more)
